Kim A. Mac Leod
President, Regional Media Advisors


Kim Mac Leod is a seasoned media investment banker and consumer magazine publishing executive with over 30 years of experience, including direct experience in M&A, editorial, advertising and circulation.

Prior to launching Regional Media Advisors, an M&A advisory firm dedicated to the regional media sector, she was Managing Director for consumer magazines at DeSilva & Phillips, a New York-based investment bank.

As a publishing executive, she co-founded FamilyFun, which was acquired by the Walt Disney Company, and over the years has acquired, sold or launched 18 national magazines, of which two – FamilyFun and Men’s Health – have grown to circulation levels of nearly two million. To date, she has completed nearly 100 transactions.

Ms. Mac Leod is a frequent speaker at regional publishing conferences, including the City and Regional Magazine Association, Association of Area Business Publications, Parenting Publications of America and Association of Alternative Newsweeklies. She has a BA with honors from Western New England University and serves as Trustee Emeritas. kim@regionalma.com


Mark A. Young
President, Grist Mill Advisors


A veteran of 10 years with a money-center bank in New York, where he handled such accounts as Doubleday & Company, Inc., Harper & Row, Publishers, Inc. and Lebhar-Friedman, Inc., Mark joined the Publishing Group of State Street Bank in 1992.

In 2006, Mark founded Grist Mill Advisors to focus on small- to medium-sized publishers of books, community newspapers, newsletters, special-interest consumer magazines and trade magazines for the purpose of sourcing, structuring and executing acquisition financings and recapitalizations, and the firm’s financial advisory practice is focused on three elements: acquisition strategy, capital raising and sale preparation.

Over the years, his extensive network has enabled him to source and execute over 75 transactions. Mark has been a speaker at the American Business Press Spring Meeting, the Fulcrum Magazine Publishing Industry Mergers & Acquisitions Forum, the International Magazine Management Conference, the International Newsletter Conference, the first annual New England Publishers Day and meetings of the New England and Washington chapters of the Newsletter Publishers Association. He is a Risk Management Association subject matter expert on magazines.

He currently serves on the Board of Directors of CSP Information Group, Inc., on the Advisory Board of The Newsletter on Newsletters and is an active member of the Turnaround Management Association. Mark is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and holds an MBA in finance from New York University.
